There are a number of posts on the nVidia forums about
performance issues starting with the 260.x release (the
claim is 195.x was the "fastest"), and getting slower with
each subsequent release.  As with all such anecdotal
reports, there are various "me too's".  There is also a
dearth of measurement data about exactly what is slower.
Of course, the forums are not an "official" support request,
so what nVidia knows, and when they knew it, is unknown.
