That's... odd.

There have been some similar-ish reports on the linux-media list, but
this one is particular to hardware that does onboard IR decoding, and
the way the data it provided gets passed along from the hardware to
the driver and on to userspace has changed a bit just recently.

Generally, devinput is actually very very easy, you just drop the right
config file in place, point lircd at the right input event device, and
you're done. This was a "special" case... ;)

In this case, I don't think I'm actually the author of anything but a
few minor changes to the ir-kbd-i2c kernel driver. I do maintain lirc
these days, but its more maintenance than writing new code. The bits
most relevant here, ir-keytable, are primarily written by Mauro Carvalho
Chehab, the upstream v4l/dvb/rc, aka media, tree maintainer.
