[mythtv-users] IR transmitter help

I've got an old HP branded mceusb receiver/transmitter which up until
now I haven't tried to use the transmitter part, but now that I'm
trying I'm having some difficulties.  When I run irsend, I can see the
LED in the transmitter blink (in the visible spectrum, I presume it's
sending IR as well)  but I don't get any response from the Motorola
cable box I'm pointing it at.  I believe I have the correct protocol
selected, because if I use the same lirc remote config file with
irreco from my cell phone (N900) it works fine.

The IR emitter is connected to the receiver with a 3.5 mm jack.  I
tried swapping the emitter with the one from my old TiVo, which has
the same size jack, but when I do that I don't see it blinking either
visibly or in the IR (on a digital camera display).  I have no idea if
it's operating on the same voltage or what.

Has anyone had similar problems?  Suggestions?
