Go into  Setup->tv settings->playback->playback profiles and edit your
profile. on the second page there is a 'custom filters' text entry box
- add vdpaubuffersize=XX where XX is something greater than 17 (the
default) and less than 50 (the max allowed). You'll probably want to
test a little to get a value that works well without going too high
(each extra buffer costs more video memory).

It's a little quirk/bug with the mythtv VDPAU code that should
hopefully be resolved for 0.25.
