I dont have a ipad/iphone - I have stuck to android... at least you
can upgrade your rooted phone to the latest version thanks for
cyanogenmod.

anyway; again from what I have read: ipad/iphone will only attempt to
play files if they have the m4v file extension, and only supported a
limited codec set within that container. That's not surprising
considering the limited cpu power and hardware acceleration. Even the
relatively open android; not that it is truly open, as all development
is controlled and planned behind closed doors with no community input
and only the finished product sourcecode is released once it is
complete....
