yes, if you get enough of them this will be the case.

priming just affects the ability to capture the mpeg stream over
firewire, not the quality of the data.
Myth's settings won't affect it either unless you have a lot of data
running on the firewire bus other than this, which case setting to a
faster speed will help, otherwise it shouldn't make a difference.

Have you tried another firewire cable? perhaps the cable is damaged?

What firewire chipset is on the firewire card you have?
