As I understand it, those AV drives are designed for use in AV /appliances/
whose software/firmware is designed with those exact timeouts and
buffer-filling strategies in mind.  Without doing something equivalent to
configure a general purpose OS and MythTV, they would be *less* suitable
than a regular desktop drive.

Note that WD Caviar Black models (AALS, FALS, FAEX, FASS, AAEX) have a 5
year warranty whilst Green (EACS, EADS, AACS, AADS, EARS) and AV (AVBS,
AVJS, AVBB, AVJB, EVCS, EURS, AVCS, AVVS, BUDT) only have a 3 year
warranty, in addition to better performance.
