    /media is a part of the root filesystem.

    /var at least is something that is traditionally itself set apart.

    Although filling up /var is not a good idea either.

    Something like a separate /home partition would be a better mount point
for media where there is the possibility that you might fill up the disk and
the target device might not mount properly.

     If you are completely new to Unix, it will all seem confusing. So you
might as well do it in the most robust way possible.

     My own recordings directory/drive is mounted off of /home.
