The current setup requires manual definition of the key database, and 
only works with AACS, not BD+ discs.  Beyond that, AACS group keys are 
only available for discs around two years old.  Anything newer will 
require a drive with a hacked firmware to allow the individual key to be 
pulled out.

Why not?  The m2ts on the average bluray is going to be 20-30GB.  While 
hard drive prices are currently artificially high, once they drop back 
down to more typical prices by the middle of next year, you're looking 
at less than $1/disc for storage.
