According to those logs, this is what you should be using:
ALSA:iec958:CARD=Intel,DEV=0

However,
according to ALSA, that device can do:
2011-12-21 14:44:13.840 AO: Sample rate 44100 is supported
2011-12-21 14:44:13.840 AO: Sample rate 48000 is supported
2011-12-21 14:44:13.840 AO: Sample rate 96000 is supported
2011-12-21 14:44:13.840 AO: Sample rate 192000 is supported

and 16, 24 and 32 bits audio.

Which is certainly not possible with SPDIF.

According to the log, there's no reason why you shouldn't hear
anything ; there are no errors either.
when you used "ALSA:hw:CARD=Intel", which isn't the card you should use anyway.

Try upgrading ALSA drivers to at least 1.0.23 (1.0.24 if you want to
use the audio from the GT430)

You have also installed some alsa plugins there, not sure why.. try
removing them (clear all your ~/.asoundrc etc /etc/asound.conf files)
