[mythtv-users] is (clearqam) channel scanning idempotent (it seems not)?

So here's a good example of a "loss of information" that I cannot see
any good reason for.

Before the channel re-scan:

chanid	channum	freqid	sourceid	callsign	name	icon	finetune
videofilters	xmltvid	recpriority	contrast	brightness	colour	hue
tvformat	visible	outputfilters	useonairguide	mplexid	serviceid
tmoffset	atsc_major_chan	atsc_minor_chan	last_record	default_authority
commmethod
4099	86-2	86	2	CICA	TV Ontario (CICA) 0 10119	0	32768	32768
32768	32768 1 0	69	2	0	0	0	2011-06-18 02:30:02 -1

After:

chanid	channum	freqid	sourceid	callsign	name	icon	finetune
videofilters	xmltvid	recpriority	contrast	brightness	colour	hue
tvformat	visible	outputfilters	useonairguide	mplexid	serviceid
tmoffset	atsc_major_chan	atsc_minor_chan	last_record	default_authority
commmethod
4099	86-2	86	2 0 10119	0	32768	32768	32768	32768 1 0	69	2	0	0	0
2011-06-18 02:30:02 -1

As you can see, everything is exactly the same except that the
rescanning dropped the callsign and name. Same for a few other channels.

When the scan was done it told me something about channels being removed
and asked if I wanted to remove them or set them invisible. I did the
latter, to see what the differences were. Here's an example of one,
first the before:

2772	66-112	66	2	MOMUSIC	Muchmore Music 0 18808	0	32768	32768
32768	32768 1 0	71	112	0	0	0	2011-08-01 16:00:02 -1

and after:

2772	_66-112	66	2	MOMUSIC	Muchmore Music 0 18808	0	32768	32768
32768	32768 0 0	71	112	0	0	0	2011-08-01 16:00:02 -1

It seems that the "tvformat" was changed from 1 to 0. But also, this new
channel was added:

4111	66-112	66	2 NULL 0	32768	32768	32768	32768 1 0	71	112	0	0	0
0000-00-00 00:00:00 -1

which looks the same as the one that was previously there and then was
set to invisible by the new scan.

Any ideas what's going on here? These are the artifacts of rescanning
that make me fear doing it every time and drives me nuts resolving every
time.

Cheers,
b.
