The various IR drivers in the Linux kernel have been getting updated
quite a bit recently, probably for the better, but breaking backward
compatibility regularly in the process (bad, bad).

I wonder if that's what's happened here?  What kernel version?

But regardless.. if the number keys are working, then you should be
able to get the rest going too.  What do these commands report:

   input-kbd 6
   input-kbd 7

???
