I would try openshot[1].

I'm not sure what distrobution you're running so it may already be
available to you.

It's currently available for Fedora in the rpmfusion-free-testing
repository[2] for it's mandatory (2 week?) waiting period before going
into the non-testing repo but I've used it and it's pretty nice!

Please give it a try before resorting to windows!

In the spirit of full disclosure I should also mention i'm the
RPMFusion package maintainer. :)
