Well I've done some more fiddling and it seems that this is indeed the 
case. While my tuners may be supported and compatible, they are somewhat 
flakey. Occasionally it seems I am just going to have to power down and 
unplug for a while, either that or buy new tuners. I can live with it, 
it's not a big problem for me.

The main problem right now is the guide data (EIT?). I've tried 
everything to get it to correct itself but I am stumped. The guide data 
for some channels is just blank. Some channels are using the guide data 
from completely unrelated channels and some just seem to be making it up.

I've retuned several times, fiddled with every setting and I'm still 
stuck with it. It's almost unusable like this. I would try nuking the 
database but I'm not used to mythbuntu and don't want to fiddle with the 
mysql install on it.
