I use Brasero to make DVDs locally I then queue up the titles for transcoding in Handbrake. This way I just rip dvds in the evening (taking a few minutes each) and over the day the trancoding catches up... taking about an hour to complete a film transcode to h264 (on a Intel Quad2Core Q6600). R
