The most basic fault with powerline networking (and one that wireless
suffers as well), is that it is a broadcast medium. Assuming you have
clean lines for decent throughput, and the hardware you want to use is
on the same half of your split, it will work fine for a small number of
machines. If you expect to have multiple frontends, or be doing file
transfers, or have networked tuners and slave backends, powerline just
wont cut it.
