Sure. You can center your entire home media setup around iTunes
and feed all of your stuff through that. Then you can kind of do with
this device what you can do with a lot of other device and a generic
Linux/Windows/MacOS fileshare.

It's probably just more of the same: Front Row.
It's basically MythVideo with some frills added and a remote that
been dumbed down to the point where it actually gets in the way of
usability.
It's main advantage over MythTV would mainly be netflix integration.
Although there's no word yet if the new ATV will support any sort of PVR
integration.

The main selling point of this devices is iTunes.
