[mythtv-users] Hauppauge TD-500 remote control stops working

I run mythtv 1.0.23+fixes (Linux Mint/Ubuntu deb package). This issue 
may be lirc related. I am not sure.

Remote control works fine in Myth for a few hours or days after a 
reboot. Then it fails. Not completely. Left and right key on the remote 
control continue working. The sound volume works but in an odd way... 
instead of the Myth user interface widget that shows sound volume level, 
another widget appears that looks like about 20 blue squares... it is 
possibly a KDE user interface element, because the same widget appears 
when I quite Myth and see the KDE desktop.

Once the remote fails, the "irw" command does not display remote control 
commands like it used to before the remote failed.

Looking for a workaround I unloaded all modules related to my TV card 
Hauppauge WinTV Nova TD-500. Then I reload them. Sadly, Myth fails to 
run then. So far reboot is the only workaround.

Please help.
