[mythtv-users] Video encoding and ffmpeg

I went home last night and tried the -ac 2  line and was shot down on
that. Apparently ffmpeg cannot switch 5.1 to 2.0.

Can some one please point me to a set of up to date instructions on
how to install ffmpeg. Wondering if I have a bad install. Tried to
rebuild it last night on 10.04 unbuntu and failed miserably. Even
though I had downloaded libx264 I was getting an error from make about
not finding it. It appears all the instructions I found stopped after
like 9.04. Assume I'm a noob.

I did get the error to repeat last night and as I remebered it was
generic. It talked about a rate, height or width being wrong when I
had -vcodec copy -acodec libmp3lame and went away with changing
libmp3lame to libfaac.
