Xv is the standard X11 interface for hardware accelerated video
playback. It accepts raw 4:2:0 video, and manages colorspace conversion
and scaling. Without it (or something better like VDPAU or OpenGL), any
video playback through MythTV will be unscaled. It doesn't matter what
type of output you are using.
