Like I've said, the unknown is how many just gave up and didn't bother to go this far.

They aren't exactly apparent. If you read the thread, you'll see how I resolved each problem, one at a time and struggling with problems which I've not found resolve to. At the moment however, things are looking good. It 'appears', but not confirmed that the 1600 I had in the system might have been causing problems. 
 
The main problems seem to be gone right now. I've also downgraded to a non PAE kernel. 
X is working, no 'display' errors and even x11vnc is back and working fine.

Changed the database IP in the General settings and am getting a database connection error which I need to resolve and need to find more on a few things but it's coming along. Once I get the pvr-500 configured and see tv coming from the video card, then I'll move on to the nvidia drivers again.
