Not a fix as such.
But I've added the option to force the use of Myth's own downmixer for
all codecs.
By default, myth let ffmpeg do the downmixing for all Dolby codec, as
they can very efficiently downmixed 5.1 AC3 to 2.0 AC3 (it's part of
the codec specification).
When active, the 5.1 audio is decoded then downmixed to stereo. This
downmixer doesn't have the volume issues has the ffmpeg's one.
On my system, listening to 5.1 AC3 passthrough, or the downmixed one
on a stereo system sounds just as loud that way.
