I use it most often for music, videos. Photos are very rarely used as 
I've never found mythgallery very satisfactory.
for the record my /etc/auto.master config file, has only one entry
/mnt /etc/auto.red --ghost

'ghost' creates empty directories of the mount points listed in the 
configuration files. This prevents the directories from being removed 
when they are unmounted. I find this useful.

where auto.red contains
* 192.168.0.8:/Qmultimedia/&

which means that all the directories under 'Qmultimedia' are mounted in 
corresponding directories under /mnt when needed.
For example /mnt/pictures

I've just tested the pictures and mythgallery was quick to access the 
NAS on launch, parsed the NFS pictures directory and populated the 
database for the first time (I did say it was rarely used!)
 From then I could browser easy enough, but I can make it crash. It 
consistently fails when viewing certain directories, but I don't think 
that is NAS spin down or autofs related.
I think thats because my otherwise stable v0.23 doesn't seem to like the 
jpg format of some on my newer cameras.
I'll try to do a test when the NAS has spun-down.
