[mythtv-users] Can't connect to MYSQL

I've installed MythTV .23 on Ubuntu 10.4.  Install went OK, but I can't 
get mythtv-setup to connect to mysql.  From the command prompt using 
'mysql' I can logon to mythconverg using (mythtv, mythtv) as the 
(username, password), host is default of localhost.

Output from running mythtv-setup
--------------------------------------

screen 1: language, select English
screen 2: small box saying No Upnp.  Don't know what that means but I 
select OK
screen 3: Database set up screen with message:
     "Mythtv can't connect to database. Please verify the database 
settings below."
They are the same values I used to connect to mythconverg using 'mysql' app.

Can't get any further.  Don't know what to do.
