I do not control volume with the PC, however you are the second on the
list that says mute is broken with ladspa compression in use.  The
only workaround I could think of for you is to map the mute key in
lircrc to a script that runs "amixer set <cardid> <mute/unmute>".  Of
course, you would need to keep track of wether the card is muted or
unmuted so it preforms the correct action.
