The code that displays the OSD has been entirely re-written for 0.24
and should be much more efficient for OpenGL, Direct3D and VDPAU
playback. An ION/330 based system was one of the test machines for the
new code and any similar system *should* be capable of full 1080p
playback with medium quality deinterlacing and any form of
captioning/subtitling (and should smoothly fade the OSD as well -
though not relevant to captions).
So if you haven't done so, any upgrade to 0.24 might be worth a try.
