It does change the menu content automatically.
However, if you have entered a custom entry: that entry is left
displayed and will configure all fields according to what the device
you have entered is capable of doing (for example, if you have
manually entered an analog device, AC3 and DTS will be disabled)

This was specifically design for people wanting to enter manually a
device that myth didn't find.

Scan devices button has two purposes: scan all devices and scan the
device you manually entered.

I see things differently.
User settings shouldn't be changed without explicit consent by the user.

Also, how could myth now what you actually have plugged to your PC?
it's just not possible.

Those logs show that everything is working properly.
ALSA reports devices that can't be opened and as such they are removed
from the list.
You entered custom data and it scan those.
