[mythtv-users] recording stutter with PVR-150

Sometime between Oct 27 and Oct 28 my recordings started to experience
jitter or stutter. That is, a Oct 27 @ 9pm CDT recording is fine, but
the next one, Oct 28 @ 3am, and all recordings that followed, are
jittery/stuttery.

I've been running Mythbuntu 8.10 for about 2 years now and it has
worked great. I've taken a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach
and just stuck with what worked for me. Playback has always been
smooth and only skipped a little the instant a recording started.

I only use the PVR-150 to capture video from my satellite dish
receiver -- this is the only recording source that I have set up.

Here are some details on my setup:
Mythbuntu 8.10
frontend and backend on same box
1 x 80GB IDE HDD for operating system
3 x 250 GB IDE HDDs for recordings
Hauppauge PVR-150 for capture
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 for playback
Dell Optiplex GX240
S-video connecting my satellite STB to my PVR-150 for capture
disabled commercial flagging and transcoding

I've tried viewing the video source directly ...

mplayer /dev/video0
cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg

... and still see the jitter.

I've tried using the composite connection on the card as well and I'm
getting see the same issues. I posted on mythtvtalk
(http://www.mythtvtalk.com/recordings-skipping-pvr-150-a-13937/) last
week -- the only response was that the card could be going bad.

I guess I'd just like to know if the PVR-150 is in fact dying, or if
there is something I can do to remedy this.

Thanks!
