[mythtv-users] Wintv-PVR-USB2 and Virtual box. Am I going to far?

I trying to reduce power consumption in my home by virtualizing as much
as possible.
The last platform I'm attacking is moving myth onto virtualbox.

I've have a WINTV-PVR-USB2 and a dual tuner HD home run on the way.

I'm working with the WINTV-PVR-USB2 initially when I hooked it up to the
host (slamd linux)
the host OS grabbed it and attempted to load firmware which did not
exist in the host.
I added the firmware to the host and was able to see the box from the host,
after enabling the device in the guest it tried to load firmware and
failed indicating that the device is jammed.

On the host I renamed the modules needed for the WINTV-PVR-USB2 and
plugged it in again,
this time the host did not load firmware but the guest again indicated
that the device is jammed.

I've looked at some the standalone driver options and I might be able to
make progress that way.

Has anybody attempted a WINTV-PVR-USB2 in a virtual environment?

Thanks, Jack
