The stereo jack means that the receiver is a standard 3-pin chip using +v 
supply, ground, and IR signal out. For your next mission, you get to figure out 
which is which... Not to mention which chip...

If you're interfacing, you should only need to connect ground and IR signal to 
your opto-isolator/whatever to simulate the signal.
