[mythtv-users] Non-HD recordings via HD-PVR are huge; can anything be done?

So does this mean the cheap DTA's *can* handle decryption (in that case
I don't see why they didn't just go to encryption immediately), or that
they will issue different (more expensive) DTA's? I can't wait to see
how their marketing droids try to spin this as "good for the consumer"
as they have done with the recent analog->digital switchover ("your VCR
is now a brick, but hey, it's GOOD for you!" )-: Or if the DTAs really
do decryption, they may not even bother to tell us when they are going
to do this?

In any case, I guess I won't toss that PVR-500 quite yet. This is all
very bad news (but not surprising I suppose). If they can con the FCC
into letting them turn off the component outputs of their full STB's, my
HD-PVR and my entire Myth system will become bricks too. I'll be left
with nothing but OTA.

My lack of success with IR blasters was with serial devices. It may be
time to try a native USB device instead.
