[mythtv-users] Newly-choppy 1080 playback on Mac Mini FE (Intel GMA 950)

Up until a few weeks ago I was running MythTV 0.21, separate backend
and frontend, with the frontend running Sinderpad universal builds on
Tiger.
I'd battled the "choppy 1080" playback problem to a standstill by
shrinking the picture by 1 percent to get the system to stop trying
to scale natively sized 1080 video.
Playback was smooth as glass, if full of interlace artifacts due to
the shrunken image (field reversal every few lines since the picture
had been shrunken)
The interlace artifacts were tolerable, as long as I had smooth playback.
I recently upgraded the OS on my backend, and on my frontend so I
could run 0.22 (Sniderpad fixes universal Leopard-built binary). I'm
currently running Snow Leopard on the FE, and am not able to get
smooth 1080 playback any more regardless of any settings I've tried.
I'm not able to achieve the smooth playback I had with Tiger and 0.21.
The hardware hasn't changed. How come I can't achieve the smooth
playback I had?
Any thoughts or tweaks appreciated.
