Are you sure it hasn't recorded them before and is ignoring them? With
multirec (mentioned earlier in the thread) you shouldn't be having any
of these problems, as you have sufficient virtual tuners to cope with
per-rule overlaps on the same channel.

What is the output of:

$ mythbackend --printsched | fgrep "Friends"

This might help to shed some light on what is going on.
