The above two lines are useless.

You need this.

> install lirc_serial setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none; /sbin/modprobe
> --ignore-install lirc_serial

This isn't needed any longer, as the setserial command is done by
/etc/sysconfig/modules/lirc.modules.
