No kidding.

I was explaining to someone why iPod's were so hard to use (back then because of all the DRM) and explained my car stereo
and Palm Pilot both use MP3 without any problems with DRM.

The person (a techy no less) immediately responded with, "oh, you get your music on limeware?"

I told him flatly, "no, I have a ripper and I converted my CD library to MP3 so it's available in my car and on my palm or on my network while the CD's are safely stored away".

The immediate assumption that MP3 == Piracy was just pathetic. (from someone technical no less).
