based on the wikipedia entry they say that it supports intel graphics
hardware and nvidia hardware as nvidia supports vdpau via vaapi.

now i understand that this adds another layer and a huge amount of
work has no doubt been put into supporting VDPAU, but surely
supporting a non-proprietary api is a good thing. And if it is stable;
the dev's would only have to support one API to support 2 (or more
graphics chipset manufacturers).

Now; this doesnt affect me; or many myth users as we have invested in
nvidia hardware; but for new users and new hardware purchases this
would open the amount of hardware available.
