How did you update to mythtv trunk in the first place?
Looking at your logs, I can not explain what's going on.
And what I thought could be an issue earlier, isn't the case. So
upgrading won't help I'm afraid
It does the exact same thing for ALSA:default as it does for
ALSA:iec958, that is the unmodified raw digital audio, passed straight
through to your amplifier.
Only thing left that I can think of is:
-Make sure you have no .asoundrc or alsa particular configuration file
that could mess up something there.
-You don't use the volume control
-Uninstall pulse audio
-You have another audio card there with SPDIF output, (the microsoft
one), try this one instead.
