Kevin,
The only limitation with storage groups is iso video files. Why not
create a storage group Video directory called Random (this would be a
real directory) and have a script randomly create a symlink to a real
video file in your collection. Symlinked video files work with storage
groups. That is how MiroBridge links Miro videos with the watched
recordings screen and MythVideo.

You could also add the "Random" directory as a subdirectory of your
current Video storage group.

When you start MythVideo you can scan your collection which would
add the Random video. You could also call Jamu as part of your random
script to add the video to MythVideo automatically. In the case that you
use Jamu you would need to use the real video file name as the symlink.
Then use a command like:
 > /where ever you have jamu dir/jamu.py -MGV "/media/Random"
"/media/Random"

The "G" option stands for "Guess" and if your random file name follows
the naming conventions found at the this link the metadata and graphics
will be added along with the file to MythVideo. See:

Good luck.

Doug
