[mythtv-users] Help needed for MultiRec + can't stop backend

This is one of the problems, that I am fighting.
If I stop the backend, it starts right back up again (according to ps -e ).

Of course that means that everything else is screwed up too.
Using 10.4 ubuntu ( gnome ) with myth installed after the basic OS. 
This hardware worked fine under 9.10 & 22
Maybe I'm all wet on this, but it seems that if you install mythbuntu first
and then gnome, things work but if you go the other ways something
gets badly farkled.
I don't have any idea what that "something" is .
