I think MythTV could really use some better search functionality. If
you are using an android device, ipad, or even a panel applet on your
laptop I think it could be very beneficial to the project. If you look
at a lot of the big software getting hype (GoogleTV, Boxee, Hulu) they
all make it dead simple to find media you are looking for without
searching a giant grid menu. I actually use MythWeb all the time just
for searching because I don't want to try to find something with the
remote in MythTV's native program search. Maybe like a remote shortcut
key that automatically opens a search box would be good. Does anyone
know if something like the Boxee remote (with keyboard on the back)
works with MythTV? I can't imagine it has too many problems since it
is RF and really just an input device.
Anyway, I am all for the idea of searching to find something. I also
wouldn't mind some sort of social integration. I have watched plenty
of Revision 3 videos (via mirobridge) and wanted to share them via
Facebook or Twitter because I know some of my friends would like the
videos but really have no way to do that from MythTV. But that is a
topic for a different thread.
