The SA boxes have implemented channel changing in many ways and I think the most recent releases require both a button press and a button release (-f 5). The most complete version of the SA methods I have seen can be found at:

I installed a Cisco RNG150 the other day. This command works reliably for me:
/usr/bin/mythchanger -f 6 -c
