>>The whole idea behind the remote/transmitter split was to make it
easier for users to run with two different lirc devices. This falls
down on dual-purpose devices that are both send and receive capable.
What you really want is just lirc_zilog to be loaded and a single
lircd instance (the first one, the "remote" one) to be loaded.

Thanks again, Jarod. I think I have resolved things but I still have some questions.
ON your suggestion, I have removed lirc_dev entry from /etc/modules file. Only thing listed there is the lirc_zilog.
I have removed the lirc_i2c entry from the remote section of the /etc/lirc/hardware.conf file.
Now I have the modules lirc_dev and lirc_zilog modules load at boot-up without problem and without error message (dmesg | grep lirc)
and I can use the remote that came with HD-PVR with mythtv, works beautifully.

The question I have is: Can I also use the IR blaster on HD-PVR to change channels on my STB? or do I need to change anything in my setup?
In other words can I use both the HD-PVR remote and the IR blasting?
I am planning to test that out next, but I thought I would ask first.

Thanks a lot again.
