I used IMAP on my server. It's awesome. Just don't try it with Microsoft Mail clients.
People complain about quirks and the current maintainer (and inventor) of IMAPd has stated that MS refused to follow the RFC for proper IMAP operation. (Probably on purpose)

Now, I have noticed with the LATEST Thunderbird, that subfolders of mailboxes aren't getting scanned when created as new.
I need to submit a bug report.
