And... it looks like the LCD TV is an important part of the equation after
all. I connected my MBP to the tv and saw the same behaviour (4:3 content
stretched, no black border). I then re-tested connecting the Mini to my
cinema display, and although it doesn't show the Display Aspect Ratio in
Settings it does do the right thing when displaying recorded 4:3 content.
On my old setup (Myth 0.20) zooming didn't work on the Mini but recorded 4:3
content displayed correctly (not stretched, w/black side borders). Now after
the upgrade to 0.22 it doesn't, so I'm not sure if the TV is auto scaling
(since it wasn't before) or if it's something else.
So: cinema display via DVI works, tv via dvi-hdmi doesn't.
