Replying to myself!

The error I observed seemed to indicate some kind of database corruption
issue. After rebooting everything, scouring HOWTOs and Google queries for
hours, I noticed a couple of seemingly unrelated errors. None of these
errors were new, so I'm not sure how they contributed to this behavior.

1) I had an empty "Source" defined in my backend. I suppose that I
started to create one, then didn't assign it a name. I thought I had
already deleted it, but there was still a blank "source." I deleted this.

2) I also noticed that I had a couple of info messages from the scan of
the video content directories. I had defined two directories /mnt/DVD_ISO
and /mnt/NAS/"Family Videos".

Note the quotations, I thought that the space in the filename most likely
had to be escaped.

I still don't know the root cause, but thanks!
