[mythtv-users] New setup: Frontend won't play recorded programs

I've got my new system set up and am testing it.  I recorded a couple of
programs.

 

When  I go into the media library and select a program to play, it shows me
the screen that says "playback starting" for a few seconds then exits back
to the menu screen.  There are no preview screenshots.

 

I checked the backend log, and it shows the stuff below (this covers a
couple of playback attempts).  The recorded files are there in
/video/recordings like they should be and will play fine with the Gnome
movie player (video and audio).  

 

What to do?
