I've had poor luck with them, but a lot depends on how your AC power wiring is 
done. Unfortunately just a matter of trying it to see how it works.

I've yet to see a situation where a cat-5 wire could not be run somehow, maybe 
not in the most attractive manner, but it's always been possible in my 
experience.
