Have you checked the difference in the content of those two packages?
The w32 packages have like twice as many codecs.

I install linux 32 bits on all my frontends for that reason...
It makes little difference speed-wise with a 64 bits install ; why
would you need more than 4GB of RAM on a mythtv frontend?

but I can play all media, which in the end, is what you want on your frontend
