I was thinking of it more like a sonos remote rather than a direct
replacement for a hard button remote. the hardbutton remote will never
be directly replaced (IMO) by a touchscreen as you cant feel what you
are doing so you would constantly be changing your focus between the
on-tv-screen cues of what is happening and what you wnat to do next,
and the on-touch-screen cues of where the buttons are you wnat to
press.

The only way a touchscreen remote is going to work properly is if your
focus can remain on the touchscreen device until you have completed
the action you intended... such as reviewing the media available and
selecting playback... all without looking at the screen until playback
has been started.
