[mythtv-users] Windows version of mythtv-0.24 fails to open GUI

I just upgraded from 0.23 to 0.24. My frontend works on Linux but not
on my Windows machine (using a remote backend on my Linux server).

When I run 'mythfrontend' on Windows, every few seconds, the GUI
window flashes on briefly for less than a second showing a blank
(white frame). After a few such tries, the program exits.

Running '-v all' doesn't reveal ANY messages during the time that the
GUI display is blinking on and then disappearing.

The last message I get is:

Everything worked fine under 0.23.1.
I am running 0.24-fixes_r27367.

Any suggestions to fix or troubleshoot?
